The Paper Wallet Review

The Origami Paper Wallet

Leather, elastic, plastic and wood. I’ve tried them all.. or so I though. My first impressions when I saw the paper wallet were negative, to say the least. I didn’t really think the wallet would be made of leather and I was right. But I couldn’t help be remembered of the good old duct tape wallet days (which were great days nevertheless) and get all red eyed about how bad those homemade wallets really were. But at a modest price tag, I decided to purchase the paper wallet with my nostalgia hat in hand, and I’m so glad I did. The paper minimalist wallet is by far one of the most enjoyable and entertaining experiences I’ve had while carrying a wallet with me (who knew they’d be so few xD).paper walletsComing in at only $17 per wallet the paper wallet is made from a lightweight, extremely flexible and durable material named Tyvek. Like origami, the various designs of the paper wallets are carefully designed and folded to create a functional, modern and stylish wallet. Eco-friendly and recyclable Tyvek is a fantastic material that really accommodates being used for a wallet. The are about 4 variants of the wallets are explained below:

  • The Standard – Dimensions: 10W X 8H CM / CLOSED. The paper wallet design has 2 credit card slots, 2 business card flaps, 2 side pockets and a cash compartment. There is no compromise in functionality here.
  • The ClassicDimensions: 3W X 8.5H CM / CLOSED. 2 business card flaps, 2 side pockets and a cash compartment.
  • Clutch – Dimensions: 2W X 10.3H CM. Not really a minimalist wallet, but worth mentioning never the less.

What makes them so slim and minimalist is the lack of materials used to make it as well as its thin streamlined appearance.

With being made from a paper-like material the paper wallet comes in a huge variety of different designs from simple full colors to intricate designs and full-color images. This is one of my favorite things about the wallet as it really adds unique individuality to each wallet and gives people a huge range of choice. Below are some of my favorite designs including the wallet I bought a “standard” paper wallet. One day I’m sure they’ll give customers the opportunity to design and submit there own images for wallet designs which would be amazing.

Use and functionality

Being made from paper the wallet feels like you’d expect. Paper like. I can’t say its partially nice to feel in the hand or that it has a high-quality feel to it. Generally, it’s just average. Personality I’d prefer the feel of leather or similar but I eventually got used to this difference and it hasn’t really influenced my opinion of the wallet.

In terms of its layout and navigation the wallet easy to navigate and I thoroughly enjoyed using in terms of getting it out and having access to all my money and cards.

As we use wallets more and more eventually they begin to show wear and tear. The paper is no exception to this rule and in my experience is more prone to degrade and wear down quicker as its used more. After just 1 month of usage, I found the wallet had significant wear including increased

Final Verdict

The paper wallet is a unique and functional minimalist wallet that uses a unique paper material to really reduce bulk and weight. With great functionality and a huge range of designs the paper wallet is beyond any other competitors in pure design customization options. My only criticism of the wallet comes from its usual feel as well as its increased disposition to wear faster than normal wallets.

At a great price, I’d highly recommend picking up this wallet if you’re looking for a wallet of this style and unique take on the modern wallet.
